Crimson Desert - Complete Haunted Hill Ruins Puzzle Guide

Getting to the Ruin (and What You Need First)

Haunted Hill Ruins is in the Haunted Hill section of Hernand, east of the nearby Abyss Nexus cluster.

  • Region: Central Hernand, Haunted Hill side.
  • Landmark: A flooded circular ruin basin.
  • Requirement: Nature's Snare (or your equivalent drain interaction skill) must already be unlocked before this puzzle can be finished.

If you arrive without the required skill, mark it and come back later. The puzzle is not intended to be brute-forced with normal interact.

How the Puzzle Works

This is a two-stage water-control puzzle:

  1. Use the first drain mechanism to lower the basin.
  2. Reach and operate the second mechanism to fully drain the center.

Most confusion comes from trying to clear everything from one position. You need to advance the water state, then move deeper for the second interaction.

Full Walkthrough (Safe Route)

1) Start at the outer mechanism

At the pool perimeter, find the first drain-linked mechanism and trigger it with Nature's Snare.

  • Hold the interaction long enough to confirm a water-level drop.
  • Wait for the animation to finish before moving on.

2) Re-scan after the first drop

After the first drainage phase, the area layout changes and the next mechanism is easier to spot/reach.

  • Recheck the basin from the edge instead of diving blindly.
  • Follow newly exposed stone pathing or lower ledges toward the inner side.

3) Trigger the second mechanism

Use Nature's Snare on the second drain point to lower the water fully and expose the central core.

  • If the interaction does not catch, adjust your angle and try again.
  • If you are partially submerged, monitor your air and surface as needed. Progress is forgiving, so do not force one risky attempt.

4) Activate the exposed center and claim reward

Once the basin is drained enough, interact with the exposed center/core to complete the ruin state, then collect the Abyss reward object in the cleared area.
